Pure Grenada ยท The Spice of the Caribbean

Festivals & Culture

Grenada is the Spice Isle of the Caribbean โ€” but our spices are more than just nutmeg and cinnamon. Our people are warm and inviting, our music is infectious, our food is mouthwatering, and our festivals are second to none. The crown jewel of Grenada's culture is Spicemas โ€” an explosion of vibrant colour, mesmerizing music, intoxicating rhythms, swaying costumes and revelling masqueraders, all done in true Grenadian style.

๐ŸŽญ Carnival ยท Grenada & Carriacou

Spicemas & Carnival

No one does carnival quite like Grenada. As the last Caribbean Carnival held every August, Spicemas offers experiences that are truly out of the ordinary โ€” from the iconic Jab Jab masqueraders covered in black oil wearing horned helmets, to the spectacular Parade of the Bands with colourful costumes, feathers and jewels.

The early morning street parade J'ouvert at daybreak is followed by Monday Night Mas with glowsticks and DJ trucks. On Carriacou, their Carnival features the unique Shakespeare Mas โ€” masqueraders in masks reciting Shakespeare's plays in friendly duels. Truly one-of-a-kind.
