St. George

St. George is one of the parishes of Grenada, situated on the southwestern end of the island. The capital of Grenada, St. George's, is located within this parish. Its horseshoe-shaped harbor is lined with pastel-colored warehouses, and it is common to see red-tiled roofs on traditional shops and homes. St. George also boasts the world-famous Grand Anse Beach and many of the island's holiday resorts.

The peninsula at the southwestern tip of St. George is known as Point Salines, where the only active airport on the island, Maurice Bishop International Airport, is located. The tourist infrastructure in St. George is more developed than in other parts of the island, due to the presence of the airport, the capital city, and the most popular beaches all within this parish. It is also home to St. George's University.

As of 2001, St. George had a population of 35,559, making it the most populous parish in Grenada. It is also the second largest, covering an area of 26 square miles (67 km²).
